Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Orlea Limited (NZ company number 9452889) ("Orlea", "we", "us") for the Orlea website and app. By creating an account or using Orlea, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the service.

Who can use Orlea

You must be 18 or older to hold an account. Orlea is designed for adult caregivers organising a household; children don't get accounts.

You're responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your password to yourself. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

Families, roles and what each can do

Orlea organises everything around a family workspace with three roles:

Primary caregiver

Full access, plus managing members, invitations and shop layouts. The primary caregiver controls the family and can remove anyone from it.

Member

Day-to-day running of the family: creating events, choosing meals, uploading recipes, adding to packing and shopping lists.

View and tick

Can see everything and tick off packing and shopping items, and edit nothing else. Intended for grandparents, babysitters and anyone who needs to help without changing arrangements.

Everyone you add can see the family's whole workspace. Please only invite people you're content to share your children's schedules with.

Inviting people and sending invites on your behalf

When you invite someone, or assign them an event, Orlea sends email to the address you provide — including a real calendar invite containing the event's details. By doing that, you confirm you have a reasonable basis to give us that address and to send them that information. Don't use Orlea to send unwanted email.

Your content

Everything you put into Orlea stays yours. We don't claim ownership of your events, recipes, lists or anything else.

You give us the permission we need to run the service - to store your content, display it to the people you've shared it with, back it up, and send it where you've asked us to, such as in a calendar invite. That permission exists so the product can work, and ends when you delete the content or your account.

Recipes you import

Orlea lets you type a recipe, paste text, or import from a URL. You're responsible for having the right to use what you import. Recipes you save are for your family's own use - Orlea isn't a way to republish someone else's work.

Drafts, parsing and AI

Orlea reads text you give it and drafts something structured from it. Recipe text is read on our own servers and is not sent to an AI provider. Activity details, messages sent to your Orlea email address, and working out which aisle a shopping item belongs in do use AI - our privacy policy sets out what is sent in each case.

You review a recipe, an activity or an event before it saves. Shopping aisles are the exception: an item is filed as soon as you add it, and where Orlea has guessed, the row says so and one tap moves it.

Any of it can be wrong, whether AI was involved or not. Quantities may be misread and conversions may be inexact. Orlea deliberately declines to convert where it doesn't know a density, rather than guessing - but you should check anything that matters. Do not rely on it where an error would be dangerous, such as an allergy or a medical dietary requirement.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

• break the law, or use Orlea to harm, harass or track anyone;
• try to reach another family's workspace, or probe the service for weaknesses;
• upload malware, or anything designed to disrupt the service;
• scrape or bulk-extract data, or resell access to Orlea;
• use it to send unsolicited email.

Sharing a calendar subscription link is your choice, but remember anyone holding it can read that calendar.

Trial, pricing and billing

• Orlea is free for the first 14 days. We don't charge during the trial.
• After that it is $9.99 per month, or $99.90 per year, per family - one price however many people are in your family.
• All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. The amount shown is the amount charged - nothing is added at checkout.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Cancel any time, and you keep access to the end of the period you've paid for.
• Payments are handled by Stripe. We don't see or store your card number. Their terms apply to the payment itself.
• We may change our prices. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a change affects you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Cancelling and deleting

You can cancel at any time. You can also delete your account, which removes your family's content as described in our Privacy Policy. Deletion is permanent. If you want a copy of your family's information first, email hello@orlea.co and we'll send you one.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we're required to. Except where the breach is serious, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

Availability

We work to keep Orlea running, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or fault-free. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and we may change or withdraw features. If we discontinue Orlea altogether, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your information.

Orlea is an organiser, not a safety system. It doesn't guarantee that anyone will see an event, receive an invite, or collect a child. Please don't use it as the only safeguard for something that matters.

Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that can't be excluded by law. For consumers in New Zealand, that includes the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986. For consumers in Australia, it includes the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, which entitle you to a remedy for a major failure and to have problems put right within a reasonable time.

Where Orlea is acquired for the purposes of a business, the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply.

Liability

Subject to the consumer rights above, and to the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss of data arising from your use of Orlea. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Orlea after that means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you're in Australia, this doesn't deprive you of the protection of Australian consumer law, or of your right to bring proceedings where you live.
